College Living

If you are accepted into St Margaret’s College, it will become your home away from home for 35 weeks of the year. With such a diversity of people here you will make an amazing network of friends, live in a supportive academic environment and have a life changing learning experience.

Our focus is to assist you during your college experience and support your personal and academic needs. We encourage Collegians to embrace every opportunity and immerse themselves in university and college life.

We foster a positive culture and strong sense of community, where residents contribute generously to daily college life in a nurturing, scholarly environment characterised by collegians who are compassionate, vital, curious and aspirational.

Our extensive activities program is student led and reflects the interests of residents. There are many opportunities to meet and mingle with cooking classes, movie nights, formal dinners and cinema and theatre outings. Sport is a big part of College life with many group exercise opportunities from walking and Fun Run events to yoga and pilates. You can make your leisure time anything you want and we encourage you to share your passions and interests with other residents. Want to sing? Speak to our internationally travelled opera singer! Want to play hockey? There’s already alumni in the local club.

Accommodation

The College has four different accommodation offerings with two accommodation wings – Raphael and Clewer. The accommodation wings branch out from a central reception area. The Raphael wing includes seven double bedrooms, main kitchen, The Oratory, student lounge and flexible learning studio. Clewer has 18 rooms in total with nine rooms on each level (ground and level one). This includes five deluxe garden view rooms and four deluxe city view rooms on each level. At the end of each level are baggage storage, shared bathrooms and kitchenettes. Beyond the foyer at the entrance level is the College Director’s office and tutorial room.
Residents have their own fully furnished private room, with a bed (Raphael – double beds & Clewer – king single beds), bedside table, desk, chair, desk lamp, built-in robe, small refrigerator and individual air conditioning units. Each room has its own basin and vanity, and there are generous shared bathroom facilities within the College. A live-in residential assistant provides additional after hours support.

Meals

Residents are provided with three meals a day, seven days a week. Our team of qualified chefs is headed by a former under butler at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle!
Meals are freshly prepared onsite in a purpose built commercial kitchen, with packed lunches available and late dinners by arrangement. A continental breakfast will be provided each morning (stocked in the pantry) and a hot breakfast is available on weekends.
Residents can self-cater when they desire, with access to three fully equipped kitchens in the College building, as well as a communal barbecue located in the outdoor recreation area.
Meals for special events and formal dinners will be served in The Oratory.
